Laser skin resurfacing is a popular aesthetics service that uses amazing laser tech to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and scars, even out skin tone and texture, reduce hyperpigmentation, tighten the skin, and remove benign and malignant lesions. Laser sessions deliver short, concentrated, pulsating light beams to irregular skin. Laser skin resurfacing removes skin very precisely, layer by layer. Lasers remove the outer layer of your skin (the epidermis) and heat the underlying layer (the dermis.)
The lasers stimulate the growth of new collagen fibers resulting in new skin that is smoother and firmer. This popular procedure is known by several other names, including lasabrasion, laser peel or laser vaporization. Calista Skin & Laser Center is proud to offer laser skin resurfacing to Fort Worth, TX, and the surrounding areas of Colleyville and Dallas. Call us today at 817-488-3838 to learn about our different laser options and how laser resurfacing can improve your skin’s health in many ways.
This resurfacing system is ideal for patients in their 30s and older with skin damage caused by sun exposure, fine lines, rough texture, and acne scars. It is ideal since there is no downtime associated with full ablative resurfacing procedures.
There is moderate discomfort associated with the treatment. Therefore, a topical anesthetic is applied prior to the procedure and makes it more tolerable. For more aggressive, higher powered procedures a mild oral sedative may be prescribed to be taken before the treatment. Over-the-counter pain relievers may be taken for a few days after the procedure. After the treatment, expect a sensation similar to a sunburn lasting a few hours. Expect a red face and peeling skin to last 7-10 days. This is an excellent fall/winter procedure and is perfect for individuals who can work from home a few days a week. Generally, you will see results after one treatment, but for deeper lines and imperfections, a series of 3 treatments over a 12 month period is recommended.
By precisely removing damaged skin, layer by layer, CO2RE laser skin resurfacing treatment is able to reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, “turning back the clock” on your complexion and revealing a more youthful looking skin that lies underneath. Fractional CO2 ablation can also lessen the appearance of scars and many other skin imperfections. Benefits include the effective correction of moderate to deep lines and wrinkles and treatment for uneven pigmentation, photodamage, precancerous spots, and a host of other skin imperfections and benign lesions.
Fractional CO2 ablative lasers generate beams of coherent light that are absorbed by the body’s tissue as energy. The energy is delivered through a narrow range of wavelengths, and in the target area, the energy causes temperature elevation which results in tissue evaporation or ablation. Ablative lasers effectively treat a broad range of skin conditions by removing all or part of the skin.
The body’s natural healing processes, then replace the damaged skin with new and healthy tissue. The CO2RE Fractional CO2 laser is the ‘Gold Standard’ for ablation, delivering an exceptional ratio between ablation and coagulation (heating tissue without evaporating it).
With age and sun exposure our skin loses its natural collagen and elasticity, resulting in wrinkles, sagging and drooping skin. The eMatrix Sublative Rejuvenation system offers the most advanced aesthetic solution to turn back the clock on aging, providing the benefits of traditional skin resurfacing techniques without significant downtime or risks. Calista Skin & Laser Center is proud to offer this technologically advanced sublative skin resurfacing to the residents of Dallas-Fort Worth area.
The eMatrix skin treatment is a new Sublative Rejuvenation treatment that goes beyond fractional methods for skin resurfacing. Sublative Rejuvenation is a non-laser and non-light-based treatment that utilizes Sublative RF (fractionated bi-polar radio frequency technology) which generates fractional deep dermal heating to induce skin injury, thus eliciting a wound healing response stimulating collagen production. Less affected tissue surrounding the matrix points may be stimulated by heat which helps accelerate the healing process. As a result skin becomes tighter and appears rejuvenated. After treatment with the eMatrix system for Sublative Rejuvenation, most patients reported brighter and smoother skin as well as fewer wrinkles.

Preparing for your laser treatment is key to achieving the best results. In the two weeks leading up to your appointment, make sure to:
Additionally, avoid any topical products or medications that cause skin photosensitivity for three days before your treatment. If you’re unsure which products to avoid, don’t hesitate to call our office—we’ll explain everything you need to know.
We begin all patients on a tailored skincare regimen, and our treatment team recommends optimizing results. Applying a topical retinoid for four weeks before treatment helps prepare your skin for the laser. Daily sunscreen use is also essential to prevent sun damage and burns before your session. We’ll provide you with the right sunscreen for your skincare package.
If you have a history of fever blisters, shingles, or herpes and are taking Valtrex, take it three days before, on the day of treatment, and three days after.
For the best results, we also recommend avoiding smoking before your treatment, as it can interfere with the healing process and impact your outcome.
CO2 laser treatment can take 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on the areas you want to target. For smaller spots, we’ll apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable, and sedation is available if you need a little extra relaxation. You might feel a quick, light snap—like a rubber band—as the laser works its magic on your skin. If you opt for a more intensive, fully ablative, non-fractional treatment, general anesthesia may be the way to go.
Once your session wraps up, we’ll apply soothing ointment to the treated areas. If you’ve had sedation or general anesthesia, be sure to have a friend or family member ready to drive you home and stay with you for the next 24 hours. Don’t worry—we’ll provide detailed aftercare instructions to ensure your skin heals beautifully at home.
The procedure involves minimal discomfort; while redness occurs after the treatment it usually lasts only a day or two.
Laser resurfacing treatments are usually quick and convenient. These 45-90-minute treatments are easy to fit into any busy schedule, and most people begin to see results in just a few weeks. The process of skin resurfacing is gradual. Full results can take a few months to become visible, but CO2 fractional laser resurfacing treatments create natural results that are easy to maintain with regular treatment and a good skincare regimen.
Results may vary. During your consultation with our laser experts, your skin condition and treatment expectations will be evaluated to determine whether the CO2 fractional laser resurfacing treatment is appropriate for your aesthetic needs.
